One of the most rewarding parts of leading a Diabetes Prevention Program is seeing how healthy habits spread beyond the participant.
Carinne joined our CDC-recognized online Diabetes Prevention Program with a goal of improving her health and reducing her risk for type 2 diabetes. What happened next reminded us that healthy habits often influence those closest to us.
A 3-Month Check-In Focused on Strength Training
As part of our 3, 6, 9, and 12-month participant follow-up model, we meet participants where they feel most comfortable exercising—whether at home, in the community, or at a local gym.
During Carinne’s 3-month check-in, we focused on strength training, proper form, and building confidence with physical activity.
The Power of Leading by Example
What made this visit especially meaningful was that Carinne’s son Elijah decided to join the workout session.
As Carinne continued making healthier choices at home, Elijah began paying attention and making healthier choices himself.
Parents are often the strongest influence on a child’s health behaviors. Research shows that when healthy habits are modeled at home, children are more likely to adopt those habits themselves.
Healthy Habits Are Contagious
Healthy habits often spread beyond the individual. When one family member commits to change, others frequently become inspired to make healthier choices as well.

Since supporting his mother’s health journey, Elijah has lost approximately 15 pounds and continues learning healthy habits that can benefit him for years to come.
This experience is a reminder that lifestyle change is often bigger than one person.
When one family member commits to improving their health, the positive impact can spread throughout the household.

Why Family Support Matters
Whether the goal is preventing type 2 diabetes, losing weight, lowering blood pressure, or becoming more active, support from family members can make a significant difference.
At TAT Health Solutions, we encourage participants to involve family members whenever possible because healthy habits are easier to maintain when everyone is working toward similar goals.
